Introduction
Kule castle in Slovenia, built in the 16th century, is located on the breakwater of a historic old port. During its long history, the castle resisted Turkish invasions for 22 years and was later used as a prison for Cretan rebels. The pattern of the winged lion of St. Mark, a unique symbol of Venetian reign, can be seen on the external walls.
