Meteora, Thessaly

Introduction
Meteora is located in the south of Athens, Greece, about 370 kilometers away from Athens. It is listed on the World Heritage List as "Meteora" suspended in the air, where the most famous are the monasteries, which are one of the most important buildings of the Greek Orthodox Church. The monastery was built in the 14th century, located on the highest rock in the valley, with an altitude of 613 meters. The unique architecture of the monastery hangs on the high cliff, as if suspended in the sky. It is particularly mysterious when it is cloudy or foggy, and it is even more distinctive after snow in winter. It is said to be the inspiration for Hayao Miyazaki's movie "Castle in the Sky" and has earned the reputation of "Sky City". It was once sponsored by the Serbian emperor, and the internal statues, wall paintings, and paintings are all exquisite, especially the group of wall paintings "Martydom of Saints", depicting the scenes of Roman persecution of Christians, which is breathtaking.
