Introduction

The Sira volcano is a historically active volcano, with the last major eruption occurring in 1956, which caused extensive damage to buildings in Fira and Ia. However, volcanic eruptions not only bring disaster, but also create beautiful landscapes. A violent eruption in 1500 BC caused the central part of Santorini Island to collapse, forming stunning crescent-shaped landforms and rugged cliff landscapes. This is the best viewing point to admire the volcanic crater on Santorini Island. If you want to see the volcano crater up close, you can take a small submarine to explore the deep sea area.
