Introduction

This ancient silk trading market located in Valencia is recognized as a Gothic building and was listed as a World Heritage Site by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) in 1996. The building witnessed the early commercial prosperity of Valencia. The previous market was too small before the construction of this trading market. The ground floor is an open trading hall, with the most striking feature being the spiral columns, and ancient tools used in the exchange can also be seen. The two upper floors were originally used to imprison debtors. The exterior courtyard is called Orange Orchard.
