Introduction

The Montserrat Monastery is located on the Montserrat Mountain in Catalonia, Spain, and is a well-respected Benedictine monastery. In Catalonia, it is one of the most important religious sites and has had a profound influence on the region's culture and spiritual life. The Montserrat Monastery not only has a long-standing publishing house (established in 1499), but is also famous for the Black Virgin and the Escolania Boys' Choir. Transportation: Take subway line L1 or L3 to Espanya station, then transfer to FGC train line R5 to Montserrat. There are two stations to get off at, the first one is the cable car station and the second one is at the foot of the mountain for those who want to hike. Choose the station based on your preference. Departure from Barcelona: First train at 8:36 am, last train at 4:56 pm, approximately one train per hour. Return trip from Montserrat: First cable car at 10:45 am, last cable car at 7:05 pm; first station at the foot of the mountain at 11:45 am, last station at 8:05 pm; approximately one train per hour. Transportation cost: When purchasing tickets, you need to choose whether to take the cable car or not, as the stations are different. FGC train line R5 + round-trip cable car: 20.2 euros/person. When getting off at the cable car station, cross the road and go through the gate to get in line for the cable car ride up the mountain.
