Introduction

Turkey has a natural salt lake located in a dry valley on the central plateau, reaching an altitude of 925 meters (3035 feet). Most of the time, the lake area is about 1,500 square kilometers (580 square miles) with a depth of about 900 meters (2950 feet). Under normal conditions, the lake is about 80 kilometers (50 miles) long and about 50 kilometers (30 miles) wide. During the dry summer season, the salt lake reveals large salt flats that can be used for salt harvesting. In the low water season, the salt flats reflect a golden light at sunset, creating a special beauty that is even more charming than when the lake is full of water, making this scene truly rare and unique.
