Introduction

In 1402, Timur invaded Anatolia and the Knights Hospitaller stationed in Rhodes took advantage of this to occupy Bodrum. In 1437, they established St. Peter's Castle. The castle remained virtually unchanged for many years until large-scale restoration work began in the 1960s.
