Introduction
There used to be a straight road leading to the harbor from the Grand Theatre when walking west. At that time, the audience sitting in the Grand Theatre focused their attention on the performance with the Mediterranean Sea in the background. In 2015, the World Heritage Committee commented on the ancient city of Ephesus saying, "it is located at the mouth of the Kaystros river, formed by a series of settlements built on a new site along the coastline moving continuously to the west. Ancient Greek and Roman settlements have expanded and shifted here multiple times. Ephesus is a unique port city with a harbor pool and sea routes." Today, the coastline has gone far away from the ancient city and the hustle and bustle on both sides of the Harbor Avenue has gradually disappeared, leaving only ruins and debris, telling the story of the once-bustling ancient city.
