Introduction

Kaymaklı Underground City is a underground refuge built by Christians in the Cappadocia region to escape persecution. The refuge consists of approximately eight levels of underground caves, with only five levels currently open to visitors. The space of Kaymaklı Underground City is massive, making it one of the world's largest underground cave sites. Visitors cannot help but be amazed by the ingenuity of the locals. It is recommended that tourists visit in the early morning of July and August, or before lunch during the peak tourist season to avoid crowds.
