The Difflugia Canyon has many cone-shaped rock layers
4.1

Introduction

The most distinctive erosional landforms in this region of Cappadocia are the volcanic tuff cones, which are most densely concentrated. Among them, the most eye-catching rocks are the famous camel-shaped ones, also known as "animal rock formations". These cones, ranging in height from tens of meters to over 100 meters, are closely arranged together, as if they were about to take a group photo. People are amazed by this wonderful sight, calling it "fairy chimneys". This mysterious and amazing phenomenon originates from the unique rock formations in the area, with a thin and hard layer of basalt protecting a layer of soft white tuff, which has been formed into the current shape over time without being eroded by wind and rain. The cones are formed by weathering from the top down, but they appear to be made of stacked stones, reaching into the sky.
