Introduction

Schaffhausen is a canton located in the northernmost part of Switzerland, adjacent to the German state of Baden-Württemberg and the canton of Zurich. Neuhausen is a small town located next to Schaffhausen city, 50 kilometers north of Zurich, where the Rhine river flows and forms the magnificent Rhine Falls, one of the largest waterfalls in Europe. Every year, tourists from all over the world come here to admire the scenery. When getting off at Neuhausen train station, visitors can enjoy a walk along the river, smell the flowers, hear the birds chirping, and experience the real Swiss life. In addition, visitors can visit the castles on both sides of the Rhine Falls, Laufen Castle and Schloss Laufen Castle, the latter of which has been converted into a high-end restaurant where visitors can enjoy delicious food and admire the magnificent view of the Rhine Falls through the huge floor-to-ceiling windows. As a concentrated tourist spot, visitors can easily make a day trip from Zurich or Lucerne. However, it may not be safe to walk by the waterfall during the winter freeze, as the ground can become extremely slippery due to icing, so visitors should pay attention to their safety.

Transportation
Depart from Zurich or Winterthur and take the S Bahn directly to Neuhausen (there is also a direct train from Winterthur to Schloss Laufen). After getting off the train, walk along the river for about 15 minutes to see the waterfall. Along the way, you can see the process of the river gradually becoming turbulent and surging, which is breathtaking. If you have time, you can cross the bridge after getting off the train and walk to the other side of the river to reach the waterfall. The walk is a bit longer, but it takes about 25 minutes and is quite enjoyable.
