Introduction
The Limmat River is an important river that originates from the northern end of Lake Zurich, flows through the city center of Zurich, and then flows northwest for 35 kilometers before joining the Aare River. Its mouth is located north of the town of Brugg, not far from the mouth of the Reuss River. The name Limmat comes from the two tributaries of the old Lake Zurich, the Linth and Maag rivers. In the early 19th century, these two rivers underwent engineering and were merged into the present-day Limmat River. The Limmat River also flows through towns such as Dietikon, Wettingen, and Baden, in addition to Zurich. Its main tributaries include the Sihl and Reppisch rivers. Although only 35 kilometers long, the Limmat River, like other Swiss rivers, is fully utilized for hydropower and has many hydropower stations. Address Ship jetty Bürkliplatz, Zurich
