Introduction

The Baroque-style library is the library of the University of Coimbra, built in the 18th century. This library was a gift from King John V of Portugal to himself. The library is decorated with luxurious materials such as rosewood and ebony. It houses over 300,000 books covering a wide range of fields including law, philosophy, and ethics.
