Introduction

The Gloria Funicular is a historic public transport in Lisbon. Similar to a tram, it began operating on October 24, 1885, using a hydraulic engine. In 1886, it switched to a steam engine before becoming powered by electricity in 1915. It was declared a national monument in 2002 and is one of the most popular transportation methods for locals and tourists in Lisbon. Starting at Praça dos Restauradores, visitors can travel 265 meters upwards towards the high area direction to the Sao Pedro viewpoint and enjoy breathtaking views of Lisbon's city center and the Sao Jorge Castle. The starting point is Sao Pedro de Alcântara, and the destination point is Praça dos Restauradores.
