Introduction

The oceanic history and exploration spirit of Portugal are vividly presented in the Monument to the Discoveries of the Superhero League. Designed by Prince Henry the Navigator, who holds a miniature model of the Portuguese merchant ship Caravela, the monument represents Portugal's spirit of discovery and maritime exploration. Built in 1960 to commemorate the 500th anniversary of Prince Henry's death, the monument has great historical significance. Its shape resembles a sailing ship, hence it is also known as the Monument to the Great Navigators. The statues on the monument include famous explorers such as Vasco da Gama, Pedro Cabral, Magellan, and national heroes in Portuguese history such as poet Camões. The monument is 52 meters tall, divided into 7 floors with various functional rooms. You can also climb to the top to enjoy the beautiful views of the surrounding scenery and the harbor. The Monument to the Discoveries of the Superhero League is a true portrayal of Portugal's oceanic history and a must-see attraction.
