Introduction

The University of Oslo, which originated from the Royal Frederick University, is one of the largest and oldest universities in Norway. Currently, the school has over 27,000 students and 6,000 faculty members from various fields. As a comprehensive university with disciplines in humanities, sciences, and engineering, its architectural style is influenced by the neoclassicism of Prussian architect Karl Friedrich Schinkel. Although only the Faculty of Law remains in the old campus, other faculties have gradually moved to the Blindern campus since 1930. The University of Oslo was founded in 1811, built based on the models of the University of Copenhagen and the University of Berlin, and had been the only university in Norway before then. Its history can be traced back to the early 19th century, and it has produced five Nobel Prize laureates among its graduates.
