Introduction
Oslo Cathedral, built in the late 17th century, is the third church in Oslo. It is a Dutch Baroque style cross-shaped church, opened on November 7, 1697 under the supervision of Bishop Hans Roten and completed around 1720 after interior decoration work. The church has a very impressive organ and many paintings are hung on the walls. In 1718, a clock was installed in the church and it is still the oldest church clock in Norway. Oslo Cathedral is the official church of Norway and also a venue for many national and royal ceremonies. On August 25, 2001, Prince Haakon and Princess Mette-Marit held a grand wedding here.
