The Republic Square is located in the center of the old city, it is rectangular and surrounded by busy tram traffic. The buildings around the square are harmonious, and the most noticeable one is the St. Bartolomeo Church located in the center. The Old Town Hall, facing north, was built in 1558 and was originally an Italian Renaissance building, with a gorgeous roof added later. In front of the town hall, there is a column commemorating the Black Death built in 1681. On the west side of the square, there is a national museum and a tourist service center, and on the south side, there is a lively open-air market every Friday.
