Introduction
St. George's Convent is one of the earliest established convents for women in Bohemia. The convent was demolished by the authorities in the 18th century and has since served various purposes such as barracks and hospitals. Today, this transformed convent houses the National Gallery and preserves Czech art treasures from the 14th to 17th centuries. These treasures include paintings of different periods and styles such as Gothic, Renaissance, and Baroque, showcasing the rich artistic and cultural heritage of the area.
