Introduction

The Small Town Square, located in the center of the Prague district, is divided into two parts by the spectacular Baroque St. Nicholas Church and offers a superb view of the small town area and the entire Prague. The square is surrounded by several historic palaces and protected buildings, exuding classical charm. The tram line along the Vltava River passes through the lower part of the square, intersecting with the Royal Route (královská cesta) from the Old Town through the Charles Bridge to Prague Castle, making it a classic destination not to be missed by tourists. In the past, like other squares in Prague, the Small Town Square was the center of markets and social activities (such as executions). The upper part of the square is also known as "Vlašský Square" because foreign merchants used to sell imported goods there, with a long history.
