Introduction

Markthal is the first indoor market in the Netherlands, located on Laurens Square in the center of Rotterdam. As the world's first building to combine a market with housing, this market housing has undoubtedly become a new landmark in Rotterdam. It is hailed as a modern version of the Sistine Chapel, with a large mural called the "Harvest Cornucopia" printed on the inner arch of the arched structure. This mural covers an area of 11,000 square meters and is one of the largest artworks in the Netherlands. Under this 40-meter-high arched structure, there are more than 80 fresh food stalls and shops. The roof of Markthal is an arched structure that can accommodate 228 apartments, and there are 1,200 parking spaces inside. Each apartment has a wide view, facing either the Maas River or the Laurens Church, and can also see the dynamic market through windows or glass floors. The apartment is not affected by the sounds and smells inside the market.
