Introduction

There is a pedestrian drawbridge over the river in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, built in 1671. This bridge is one of the few surviving wooden suspension bridges in Amsterdam and one of the simplest bridges. There are two white pedestrian doors on the bridge, leading to Church Street. Because the bridge is very narrow, it is called the "Skinny Bridge," meaning a slender lady. The bridge underwent two reconstructions in 1871 and 1929, but still retains its original wooden structure and slim style. At night, the lights on the bridge make the whole bridge more bright and eye-catching, adding unique beauty to the dark Amstel River.
