Introduction

The Bagrati Cathedral, founded in 1003, was ordered to be built by King Bagrat III, who ruled the region at that time, and was once one of the representative buildings of Georgian church architecture. However, in 1692, the ancient cathedral was destroyed by the explosion of Turkish troops' gunpowder. Beside the Bagrati Cathedral, the Bagrati Castle is also a historic site, whose construction dates back to the 6th century AD. Unfortunately, the castle was self-destroyed during the Russo-Turkish War in 1769. Today, the protected Bagrati Castle site is a great place for tourists to explore history.
