Introduction

Marseille Cathedral is a historic Roman Catholic cathedral, which was designated as a Papal basilica in 1896. The cathedral was originally built in 1852, adopting a Byzantine-Romanesque style. Compared to the old cathedral, the new cathedral is more advanced in design and construction, presenting a different artistic style. Most of the old cathedral has been demolished, but some remnants are still preserved to showcase the imprints of history to visitors.
