Introduction

The Annunciation Cathedral, located inside the Kremlin in Kazan, is one of the oldest stone buildings in Kazan and was built in the mid-16th century. It was commissioned by Tsar Ivan the Terrible and designed by Postnik Yakovlev, who was also the architect of the famous Saint Basil's Cathedral on Red Square in Moscow.
