Introduction

The Kremlin is located in Kazan, the capital of Russia. It is an ancient architectural complex and was once the main castle of the Khanate of Kazan. Its history can be traced back to the time of Khan Gold of Kazan. In 1552, it was conquered by Ivan and later rebuilt into an important place of worship. The Kremlin, built on the site of the original castle, is the only remaining Tatar fortress in Russia. In 2000, it was listed as a World Heritage Site.
