Introduction

Bamberg Cathedral is one of the four spires on the Bamberg skyline. The cathedral was built in 1004 and features Romanesque and Gothic styles, with local grey-white bricks. The interior is simple, but adorned with exquisite stone carvings and altars. Pope Clement II, the only buried pope north of the Alps, is entombed here. The statue "Bamberg Knight" at the entrance of the cathedral remains a mystery regarding its creator and depiction. Additionally, there is a free organ concert held in the cathedral every Saturday from 12:00 to 12:30 noon.
