Introduction
The Old Town Hall building in the center of the Old Town Square (Altes Rathaus) is one of the most famous buildings in Leipzig. It was built in 1556 and now serves as a city history museum. The building has three floors, with the bottom floor featuring a red-brown stone archway, a simple yellow wall in the middle, and a red tiled sloping roof on the top. The roof is adorned with six beautifully shaped turrets, with the central clock tower serving as the square's landmark. This building is considered one of the most exquisite Renaissance buildings in Germany due to its beautiful appearance.
In addition to displaying artifacts and remains such as church icons damaged by war and a city model from 1823, the museum also has special exhibition rooms. The entrance is located at the bottom of the second floor's red-brown stone archway, where there are some shops selling souvenirs and cigarettes.
Behind the Old Town Hall is the Market Square, where there is a statue of a young Goethe. Address Altes Rathaus, 1, Markt, center, Mitte, Leipzig, Saxony, 04109, Germany
