Introduction

The Dresden Cathedral, located in the old town of Dresden, Germany, by the Elbe River, is a Catholic cathedral. The Italian architect Gaetano Chiaveri was in charge of the design from 1738 to 1751. At that time, it was chosen as the royal church by Elector Augustus II of Saxony after his conversion to Catholicism.
