Introduction

The Victory Column, located 2 kilometers west of Brandenburg Gate in Berlin, was built in 1873 to celebrate the victory in the Franco-Prussian War. It features a gold-plated bronze statue of the goddess Victoria at the top. The column is 69 meters high and offers a panoramic view of the city from the center of Tiergarten Park. Tiergarten Park is one of the largest green spaces in the city and is surrounded by attractions such as the Federal President's residence, Bellevue Palace, and the World Cultural Palace, which resembles a "pregnant oyster." The New Year's Day and LGBTQ+ Pride Parade are also held around the Victory Column, making it a place for fireworks and celebrations.
