Introduction

King's Square in Munich, Germany, is an important part of Blumenstraße and one of the city's four royal avenues, adjacent to Karolinenplatz. The square features neoclassical architecture and was once the site of Nazi parades. It was built in the early 19th century, and the Greek gate in the west was built in 1862, modeled after the gate on the hill in Athens. There are three museums on the square: the Glyptothek, the Antiquities Collection, and the Lenbachhaus. The Glyptothek showcases many ancient Greek and Roman sculptures from the 6th century BC to the 4th century AD. The Antiquities Collection mainly collects small-scale ancient Greek and Roman artworks, such as vases, jewelry, ceramics, and weapons. The Lenbachhaus is located north of the Greek gate and was once the private villa of the painter Lenbach.
