It is the western end of the Royal Avenue Maximilianstrasse and was built in 1818 along with the Corinthian columned National Theatre. The western side of the square is lined with middle-class residences, while the northern side is occupied by the Munich Palace, modeled after the Pitti Palace in Florence, with the facade of the Palace Theatre. To the south of the square is a Neo-Renaissance arcade, part of the Trion-Jettenbach Palace. Address Max Joseph Platz, 80539 Munich
