Introduction

The Irona Dome Church in Munich, Germany, is a historic church built between 1663 and 1690. The construction of this church was intended to celebrate the birth of Prince Max Emanuel II, which was a joyous occasion for the long-awaited royal heir. The Irona Dome Church follows the design of Italian Baroque architecture, drawing inspiration from the Basilica of St. Andrew in Rome. It features a pair of 71-meter high domed towers. The facade of the church was completed by François de Cuvilliés more than seventy years later, showcasing Rococo style and Mediterranean appearance. The distinctive yellow color of the church has made it a symbol of the city and has had a significant influence on the development of Baroque architecture in southern Germany.
