Introduction

Krakow Cloth Hall is a Renaissance-style building located in the bustling Market Square of Krakow, Poland. It is one of the city's most famous landmarks. The entire old town of Krakow was listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1978. This was once the international trade center, and during the golden age of the 15th century, Krakow had a large supply of Oriental imported products and locally exported textiles, as well as salt from the mines. Prior to the Renaissance period, Krakow, as the royal capital of Poland, was one of the most magnificent cities in Europe. However, this prosperity did not last. The partitioning of Poland wars and political instabilities in the late 18th century hastened the decline of the city. In the 1870s, under the rule of the Austro-Hungarian Empire, the Cloth Hall underwent restoration, which was one of the most remarkable achievements of that time. For centuries, the Cloth Hall has been a place to host numerous prominent figures. It continues to be used today to welcome visiting royals and other important guests to Krakow.
