Introduction

The Market Square is surrounded by buildings such as the Town Hall, the Cathedral, and the Guildhall. These Renaissance-style buildings were constructed in the late 16th century. The area is like a maze with squares, narrow streets, and sidewalks. More than 300 statues of the Virgin Mary can be found throughout. The Town Hall, built in 1564, stretches 76 meters in length and showcases Flemish and Italian Renaissance-style decoration. Overall, the Market Square is a place filled with history and culture, and definitely worth a visit.
