Introduction

The Royal Museum of the Armed Forces and Military History, located on the north side of the Jubilee Park in Brussels, is a historic museum. Its origins can be traced back to 1910 when Louis Leconte collected over 900 military artefacts for the World Expo. The exhibition showcasing the military armaments of 19th century Belgium was highly popular, leading to the idea of establishing a permanent museum. After World War I, Leconte expanded his collection through the selection of war remnants, as well as donations and exchanges. On June 28, 1923, King Albert I officially inaugurated the new museum. Today, the museum houses uniforms, weapons, vehicles, and military equipment from different periods and countries. The Royal Museum of the Armed Forces and Military History aims to provide a comprehensive understanding of how the military has decisively shaped modern society.
