Introduction

The small Triumphal Arch, built in 1765, is a monument constructed by Queen Maria Theresa in commemoration of her son Leopold's wedding. However, due to the death of her husband Franz Stephan, the south side is inscribed with "life and happiness," while the north side is inscribed with "death and sorrow." The small Triumphal Arch is located at the beginning of Maria-Theresien-Strasse.
