Introduction
The town hall, built in 1358, is located at the eastern end of Herzog-Friedrich-Strasse, and the city tower (stadtturm) inside the town hall is a symbol of Innsbruck's old town. It was built between 1442 and 1450. This tower, reaching a height of 57 meters, was originally a watchtower with a prison. However, in 1560, it underwent a reconstruction, with the spire being replaced by a small dome, and the functions of the prison and watchtower were abolished. Now, this tower has become a famous tourist attraction. At a height of 33 meters, there is a gallery where visitors can stand, away from the hustle and bustle, and enjoy panoramic views of the beautiful Innsbruck and the surrounding mountains.
