Introduction

Dachstein Ice Cave is a fascinating place with millions of years of history, extending about 80 kilometers into the mountains. While the ice layers themselves are not more than 500 years old, their thickness increases every year. Now, the "ice mountain" reaches a height of 8 meters, twice as much as it was in 1910. To reach the Dachstein Ice Cave, you need to take two cable cars. After the first cable car ride, you can choose to explore one of the three caves, with Rieseneishoehle Giant Ice Cave being the most famous. The cave is extremely cold and covered in snow throughout the year, offering stunning views. The entire journey from entering the cave to exiting takes about 50 minutes.
