Introduction

The square is a must-visit place on the way to Hohensalzburg Fortress cable car, and it is surrounded by important attractions such as Salzburg Cathedral and St. Peter's Abbey. There is a Capitellbrunnen, also known as Kapitelschwemme, on the square, with a sculpture of the sea god Neptune holding a trident and playing with sea horses. In addition, there is a modern art piece called Sphaera, created by German sculptor Stephan Balkenhol, consisting of a golden sphere and a small statue standing on top of it. Moreover, there is a giant chessboard on the square, where people often play chess.
