Introduction

Salzburg Residence, located in the old town of Salzburg, is a city palace that serves as the residence of the Archbishop of Salzburg. Built in 1120, this luxurious palace underwent extensive reconstruction during the 15th and 16th centuries under Archbishop Wolf Dietrich to showcase its impressive grandeur. Today, the Salzburg Residence houses an art museum that displays exquisite paintings from the 16th to the 18th centuries, as well as 19th-century Austrian art.
