Introduction
The narrow and long lane called "Touching Breast Lane" in Lukang is one of the most famous attractions and also one of the narrowest, measuring less than 70 centimeters at its narrowest point. When a man and a woman meet in this lane, they feel extremely embarrassed due to the narrow road. This lane has many nicknames, such as "Chest-Protecting Lane" and "Gentleman's Lane," but "Touching Breast Lane" remains the most well-known.
The origin of this name is disputed. One theory suggests that when a man and a woman meet in the lane, the woman asks the man to touch her chest, hence the name "Touching Chest Lane," which later evolved into "Touching Breast Lane." Another theory claims that people in ancient times desired to have children and constantly thought about it, and since the lane was narrow and felt like a dream at night, it was named "Dream Lin Lane" in Mandarin, which sounds similar to "Touching Breast Lane" in Taiwanese, thus giving it the name "Touching Breast Lane."
