Introduction
Longshan Temple is one of the five temples in Taiwan dedicated to Longshan Temple in Jinjiang County, Quanzhou Prefecture, Fujian. Although the establishment of Lugang Longshan Temple cannot be verified, it is said to have been founded around the Yongli era of the Ming Dynasty (1646-1661 AD). The earliest existing documentary record is the relocation to its current location in the 51st year of the Qianlong reign of the Qing Dynasty (1786 AD). After several renovations, it is now recognized as one of the best-preserved Qing Dynasty buildings in Taiwan and has been designated as a first-class historical site.
Longshan Temple is one of the three major historical sites in Lugang and has a history of over two hundred years. In contrast to the lively incense at the Tianhou Temple, Longshan Temple is much quieter. If you like peaceful places, you must visit Longshan Temple. The temple enshrines Guanyin Bodhisattva and is traditionally divided into the Mountain Gate, Temple Square, Three River Halls, Middle Square, Main Hall, Rear Square, and Rear Hall. This temple is one of the most aesthetically crafted buildings in traditional Taiwanese architecture. History enthusiasts should pay attention to the details and structures of the building, such as the dragon pillars (known as one of the classic dragon pillars), window carvings, and coffered ceilings. Over the course of two centuries, the temple has accumulated the refined craftsmanship of previous generations in carving, painting, and other manual skills, making it one of the masterpieces of temple art in Taiwan. This solemn and ancient Longshan Temple is definitely worth a visit to explore and appreciate. Address 81 Jinhua Street, Lugang Township, Changhua County
