Introduction

The "Water Flows Upward" phenomenon is located at the 152K mark on Provincial Highway No. 11 in Dulan Village, Donghe Township, Taitung County, Taiwan. It is an agricultural irrigation channel that winds its way uphill. Due to the steep slope of the surrounding landscape compared to the road surface, it creates a visual illusion that it appears as if water is flowing from a lower point to a higher point. Currently, it is managed by the East Coast National Scenic Area Administration and features a rest area, parking lot, and a monument called the "Phenomenon". It is one of the famous tourist attractions on the East Coast.
