Introduction
The Confucius Temple and Martyrs' Shrine are located next to each other at the intersection of Shuangshi Road and Lixing Road. The Confucius Temple is based on the architecture of a Song Dynasty courtyard, with a majestic main gate and two white archways in front. Behind the gate, there is a crescent-shaped pond and a bridge. The central hall, called the Dacheng Hall, features a roof with double eaves and is elegantly decorated with painted arches and columns from the Song Dynasty. Inside the hall, there are statues of Confucius and his 72 disciples. On both sides of the Dacheng Hall, there are east and west halls dedicated to the spirits of Confucian scholars throughout history. These halls are connected to a room for rituals and ceremonies, and behind them is the Chongsheng Shrine, dedicated to Confucius' ancestors.
The Martyrs' Shrine used to be a Shinto shrine during the Japanese occupation but was rebuilt as a shrine for martyrs after Taiwan's liberation. The architectural style of the Martyrs' Shrine is similar to that of the Confucius Temple, with yellow and white as the main colors. The main gate bears the inscriptions "Sacrifice Oneself" and "Pursue Justice." Inside the main hall, there are shrines dedicated to revolutionary martyrs, surrounded by tall green trees.
