Introduction
National Taiwan Museum of Fine Arts, affiliated with the Ministry of Culture, is one of Taiwan's only national-level art museums. It opened in 1988 and is located in the heart of Taichung City, occupying about three hectares of land with convenient transportation. Surrounding attractions include National Museum of Natural Science, Art Park Road commercial district, and Caowu Road. The museum is known for its free admission and well-planned exhibition spaces. It houses permanent exhibitions and often showcases large sculptures outside that attract visitors. The museum's collection primarily consists of works by deceased artists from the Republic of China era, as well as artworks by Taiwanese artists from the Ming and Qing dynasties and contemporary artists, including Western painting, traditional Chinese painting, and decorative arts. On a small hillside by the side gate on Yingcai Road, there is a stele forest area displaying 50 masterpieces of calligraphy by late pioneers and contemporary calligraphers in Taiwan. The inscriptions are carved with precision using modern sandblasting techniques to preserve the original style and charm of the ink. The unique artistic atmosphere has driven the development of art and commercial activities in the vicinity, creating a vibrant cultural and tourism area.
