Highlights of Hualien's natural beauty. Xiangde Temple is a Buddhist temple located in Xiulin Township, Hualien County. Built in 1968, the temple was constructed to commemorate those who died during the construction of the Central Cross-Island Highway. It is recommended by the "Michelin Green Guide Taiwan." The tranquil temple not only offers blessings for the deceased but also serves as a sanctuary for spiritual purification. Xiangde Temple is known for its serene environment and stunning views. Adjacent to the temple is a 12-meter-tall golden statue of Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva, hailed as the tallest in the world, which is definitely worth seeing. In addition, the nearby Tianxiang Tianfeng Pagoda, built in 1993, is connected to Taroko Gorge. From the top of the pagoda, visitors can enjoy panoramic views of the vast plum forests, as well as the distant Jingying Hotel and Xiangde Temple.
