Introduction
Located at the foot of Mount Masi in Guangfu Township, Hualien, the Matsu'an Wetland Ecological Park is a natural swamp wetland covering nearly 100 hectares. It is surrounded by the Central Mountain Range on three sides. The local Amis tribe calls the tree bean "VATAAN," which is their mascot, and the area around Matsu'an is named after the long-term cultivation of tree beans. A winding path leads to the entrance of the Xinlv Farm, where a large sign that says "Welcome to Lotus Country" can be seen. Following the wooden plank road, the distant mountains are continuous, and the clear Fudeng Creek flows through the wetland from south to north. There are also endless springs that form a rich and diverse ecological environment, supporting the abundant life of this marsh. There are nearly 100 species of aquatic plants in the park, and the yellow-flowered Taiwanese water-fern is unique to Taiwan. In addition, various birds, frogs, damselflies, and dragonflies, as well as fish, shrimp, and shellfish in the water, make for a breathtaking sight. In recent years, Matsu'an Wetland is also famous for its summer lotus field, where lotus leaves cover the sky and lotus flowers bloom, attracting many tourists to come and admire the beauty of the lotus up close.
