Introduction

Liyu Lake is located in Shoufeng, Hualien, formed by the damming of Mudan Creek. The surrounding mountains resemble a carp, hence the name. Visitors can enjoy the beautiful scenery of the lake, especially ideal for cycling or boating to experience the tranquility. During the firefly season in April and May, the flickering lights decorate the mountains and lake, adding a touch of mystery. The Chihnan Forest Recreation Area is located on the highlands south of Liyu Lake, offering a panoramic view of the lake. It used to be an important area for logging, and although logging activities are now prohibited, the original steam train and railway facilities are still preserved, making Chihnan an attractive destination for exploring forestry history and culture.
