Introduction

Left Camp Site is the first designated site in Kaohsiung, with cultural layers including prehistoric cultures from 5000 to 3400 years ago and historical cultures from the Ming and Qing dynasties. Tourist attractions such as Zhouzi Wetland Park, Lianchihtan Temples, Xue Family Mansion, Sihaiyi Family Club, and the Veterans Village Cultural Center are popular among history enthusiasts and Buddhist visitors. Here, you can contemplate the past and present, worship and pray, and don't miss out on the local delicacies. The City Gate remains in Left Camp. It is the first earth and stone city in Taiwan, built in the fifth year of the Qing Dynasty. Currently, the North, East, and South gates, as well as parts of the city walls, are preserved, and they have been listed as a national first-class monument. Among them, the surviving plaque of the West Gate (Dianhai Gate) is displayed in the former British Consulate residence in Takao. The East Gate (Fengyi Gate) gate and about 500 meters of the city wall have been restored. The historic plaque of the South Gate (Qiwen Gate) is still intact. The North Gate (Gongchen Gate) has preserved over 100 meters of the city wall, and the colorful gray stone door gods on both sides of the gate are the most unique in Taiwan.
